The Hanseatic Festival Of Watersports 2024

Updated: Dec 22, 2023

Prepare to embark on a decade-long legacy of aquatic brilliance as the Hanseatic Festival of Watersports gears up for its tenth anniversary! For nearly ten years, this extraordinary event has been drawing larger crowds with each passing year, evolving into Europe's premier watersports spectacle. The visionaries behind it all, Tom and Jason, recently unveiled the dates at this year's event, setting the stage for an unforgettable weekend on June 1-2, 2024, spanning both Saturday and Sunday.

This free-to-attend extravaganza promises an even more spectacular showcase than ever before. Witness the adrenaline-charged return of Formula 1, 2, and 3 water-ski racing, as well as mesmerising demonstrations by jet skiers and the OCRDA. The organisers, including Jason Russell, Tom Lumley, and Michelle Lumley, have consistently raised the bar, orchestrating an event that grows bigger and better with each passing year. Their secret? They order up the sunshine and beautiful weather to enhance the overall experience.

Tom Lumley, a key figure in the organisation, shared his excitement, stating, “We tried for many years to put this event on, and when the borough council agreed to let us go ahead, we were ecstatic. Since it's conception, we have invested a lot of time and effort into this event, and it has truly paid off." Tom extends heartfelt thanks to all sponsors, with special appreciation for the borough council and Peter Carter Haulage for their unwavering support.

Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for Business, Culture, and Heritage at the borough council, Cllr Graham Middleton, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "This is a fantastic event to watch from the South Quay. It has grown in stature each year and is now ranking as one of the best venues in the UK and Europe." The event has expanded its offerings, showcasing a wider variety of water-based activities, creating a spectacular view for spectators along the Quayside.

The event is proudly supported by a lineup of sponsors, including Adrian Flux, Barrus, Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, Brown&Co, Carter Haulage, GB Watersports, Minuteman Press, Rollins Electrical, and Studio 20a. Tom Lumley extends a warm invitation, saying, "If any individuals or companies are interested in being part of this event and would like to be a sponsor, we would welcome you with open arms."

Beyond the heart-pounding races, families can partake in fun-filled activities on the quayside across both days. The races kick off at 10:30 am each day, continuing until 3:30 pm, with live music and a spectacular firework display on Saturday afternoon.
